26. How I Made Room for Revelation (and How You Can Too)

I used to believe that personal revelation required quiet, dedicated space—something like Sheri Dew’s “revelation room,” a story I once heard that still lives rent-free in my mind. As a mom, wife, business owner, and speaker, a sacred and uninterrupted room sounds amazing… but it’s just not realistic for me right now.

That’s when the Spirit whispered something that changed everything:
“You don’t need a special room. You just need dedicated space and time.”

In 2019, that revelation took the form of sticky notes in my kids’ playroom—giant Post-its filled with scriptures about spiritual gifts, taped up between toys and crayons. It was messy. It was untraditional. But it became holy.

In this episode of Sunshine in the Middle, I walk through the lessons I’ve learned about creating room for revelation:

  • Revelation happens in places we least expect—when we invite it in.

  • Our willingness to record and act on spiritual impressions matters.

  • Busyness is the enemy of spiritual clarity.

  • Even folding laundry can be sacred ground.

I’ve come to believe that remembering is part of revelation. That’s why I started keeping a joy journal and why this podcast even exists. It’s my way of capturing the sunshine I find in the middle of life’s hardest and holiest moments.

If you’re feeling spiritually dry or distracted, this is your reminder:
God is ready to speak. The question is—have you made space to hear Him?
