8 Favorite Quotes from Saturday’s General Conference - April 2021

Here are some of my favorite quotes and thoughts from the Saturday Session of General Conference.

Which talks stood out to you?

“Dive deeply into the spiritual waters of the doctrines of Christ.” - Jan Eric Neuman

My friend Scott Sorensen taught me about the principle “Deep Pools.” There were a lot of deep pools as I listened to Elder Neuman. As we know and become more like the master teacher, we will bring people to Him. One of my faves: “Follow the example of the master teacher and be like Him.” I want to be a master teacher that brings people to the Savior.

“Get far enough in.” - Joy Jones

Joy D. Jones’s talk about teaching this was deep and meaningful. I have a lot to do to improve in this area. However, I can’t get this line out of my mind. How can I get far enough in? How do I help my kids get far enough in? I will be reading her talk over and over again to highlight more.

“We come to the inn as we are. We all have something needed to contribute.” -Gerrit W. Gong

I’m loving all of these talks on kindness, inclusion, and selfless service! Gerrit W. Gong filled me. “There is room for all in His inn.” “He brings us to His inn and also His holy house.”

“Hope!” - Dieter F. Uchtdorf

“He urges us to seek joy.” So many gems. I love Elder Uchtdorf’s continual use of the word “unimaginable.” There is so much more the Savior can do for us, if we let Him, through our repentance and by opening our hearts to reach out to Him and others."

“We need everyone… There is a place for you.” - Jorge Becerra

Is anyone sick of this message? I’m sure not. I’m loving this theme that there is room at the table.

“Inclusion is a positive means towards unity.” - Gary E Stevenson

“Be role models of kindness, inclusion, and civility.” Such great words from Gary E. Stevenson. May we all be kinder.

“Live so you can walk away easily.” - Henry B. Eyring

It’s very possible I didn’t get this exact quote right. I will go back and read and study when it’s published. But this is what I wrote down. And this line was a direct answer to one of my conference questions. I also loved his mention that we need to prepare to be able to walk away from the world so we can spend time in the temple. Then you Henry B. Eyring.

“This Easter, let’s try to practice peace in a personal way.” - Jeffrey R. Holland

“In matters of covenental purity, the sacred is too often made common and the holy is too often being made profane.” That Jeffrey R. Holland nailed it again. We’ll be focusing on Principles of Righteousness in our house.
